Cooperation between line-commutated current-source converters and forced-commutated voltage-source converters in HVDC transmission

Abstract |
The study treats dynamic simulations of HVDC transmission system consisting of mixed
line-commutated current-source converters and forced-commutated voltage-source converters. Three
basic hybrid topologies were modelled in the digital simulator EMTDC/PSCAD software. The first
topology has different types of converters in the two terminals, the second topology current-source and
voltage-source converters connected in series on the dc-side in the same station and the third topology
current-source converters in one pole and voltage-source converters in the other pole. The
performance as well as special control requirements and strategies are treated. |
