Abstract | To test and to characterise in terms of losses high power converters is never easy because loads and input sources adapted to the commutated power are necessary. In this paper, the authors propose to study the opposition method which avoids this problem. It offers a very good accuracy for measurement of losses. Its principle and its main properties are presented. The calculations of the theoretical losses in the opposition method are shown. Moreover a method to choose the smoothing inductor, a crucial point, is proposed. This method is applied to the multicell multilevel inverters: two identical 1800V-200A-16kHz hard switched 3-cell/4-level inverter legs are opposed. |
