Hybrid Transformerless Reactive Series Compensators

| Abstract |
We propose a hybrid series compensator for power flow control with increased control range and
reduced inverter capacity. For cost reduction the compensator is directly connected to the AC system
without using costly and bulky transformers. Experimental results like start-up without DC-precharging
and transition from capacitive to inductive compensation demonstrate the feasibility and functionality. |
