 Abstract   A practical power switching arrangement for a two-phase hybrid stepping motor drive supplying quadrature bipolar phase currents is described. This novel technique uses just six power switches, allowing the use of readily available three-phase power inverter modules. Drive cost is consequently lower than for a conventional eight switch design.
