 Abstract   The present paper describes a system for detecting interturn shortcircuits in working induction motors using instantaneous motor voltages and currents to obtain a parameter called negative sequence impedance, which is directly related to stator asymmetry. By means of analogue circuits and a PLC a whole system for the supervision of insulation condition is developed to be applied to working induction motors.
