This paper represents the possibility of optimal design and construction of Switched Reluctance (SR)
motors along with some constraints governed by similar asynchronous motors. These constraints such
as the type of laminated material, the cross-section dimensions of motor and the size of the case and
brackets, are considered to use the major portion of the present asynchronous motors production line
for the SR motors production. The paper describes an efficient conceptual optimal design procedure
for constrained SR motors. Also, a simple approximate magnetic loss calculation method, based on
laminated iron loss measurements on Epstein test bench, is introduced to estimate the motor
efficiency. |
