 Abstract   In this paper, an approach is presented for the speed control of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) without mechanical sensors. An adaptive observer is designed based on the theory of hyperstability to estimate the rotor speed and position of a PMSM. The validity of the proposed observer is confirmed by simulation experiments and its dynamic performance is improved by some technique modifications.
