In this paper, a robust sliding mode controller for the single-phase AC/DC Buck-Boost converter is
proposed. This "Just In Time" switching controller, ensures a near unity power factor operation, input
current with low harmonic content, fast dynamic response of the output voltage and robustness to load
variations. To achieve near unity input power factor the input current must be a sinusoidal waveform
with the same phase of the input voltage and whose amplitude is regulated by the output voltage
controller. Experimental and simulation results are presented, and the performances compared with
the behaviour of the conventional Proportional Integral (PI) output voltage control, aided by a inner
loop for the PWM current mode modulator. |
