Abstract   A new low-cost off-line battery-charger family featuring high input power factor is presented in this paper. Typical average current mode control technique used in DC-to-DC converters has been applied to achieve an input power factor near unity. The low cost feature has been obtained by using a singlestage flyback topology since no very fast output response is necessary for lead-acid battery chargers. Design procedure and experimental results obtained at the laboratory are also presented.
