Abstract |
Magnetic cores have been used in transformers for over a century. In this paper, the use of coreless PCB transformers for energy conversion is described. Coreless PCB transformers eliminate the magnetic cores and their limitations. The drastic reduction in the vertical dimension in coreless PCB transformers enables these transformers to have very high power density and offers a new technology for developing very low-profile power converters. |
