In this paper an experimental interactive workbench for control of variable speed induction
motor drives for electrical engineering laboratories, is presented. With this system, first the
student can in a friendly way from the PC with a multimedia software, simulate the operation of
an electric locomotive running between two railway stations, and in an interactive way, learn the
different components of the drive, as well as calculate and simulate their behaviour. On the
other hand, a PWM experimental drive of induction motor variable speed, controlled by a high
resolution Digital Signal Processor device, permits the student to try and analyse various control
strategies as well as the operation with different parameters values. These changes can be
programmed directly from the Personal Computer, using a friendly graphic interface. For all
these reasons, this experimental product, can be a useful tool to assist students with their
learning endeavours and their own training in the practical use and knowledge on induction
motor speed and torque control drives, in the classical scalar control mode, as well as vector
control mode. |
