Active AC Line Conditioner for a Cogeneration System

Abstract |
This paper deals with a cogeneration system which can produce electric energy from low pressure saturated steam or natural gas. The system consists of a high speed turbine coupled to a synchronous generator, which is connected to the A.C.-line by a power conditioning system. In this paper, a novel control strategy is proposed in order to provide not only the active power obtained from the mechanical side, but reactive power as well. In this way, the power conditioning system can also be efficiently used as active filter. This new feature reduces the pay back time without increasing the investment cost. The theoretical analysis of the control system is confirmed by computer simulations. |
