Abstract |
This paper analyzes control simplifications for a high-accuracy power converter with energy recovery capability used to supply electromagnets in particle accelerators. The Energetic Macroscopic Representation (EMR) graphical formalism is used to organize the system model and its control, which are validated through simulation and experimental results. The results indicate that achieving high accuracy for the magnet current using cascaded PI controllers necessitates a full control structure with the maximum number of measurements and control actions, at cost of additional sensors and complex implementation. Although control structure simplifications compromise accuracy specifications, the controllability remains ensured. |
