Bus bars are key in the development and improvement of electrical systems that use power converters that are an essential part in smart grid systems. Bus bars, and especially laminated ones, can help reduce inductance and minimize switching losses, thereby enhancing the overall performance of converters. This highlights the critical need to accurately determine the inductance of bus bars, and then optimize their design accordingly. This publication focuses on different way to measure inductance of laminated bus bars and the correlation with simulation. The presented results demonstrate the sensitivity of inductance measurements, primarily influenced by the measurement setup. Well controlled, it is possible to obtain a strong correlation with numerical models, allowing fast design improvements before prototyping. |
