 Abstract   Position sensorless control for Permanent-magnet synchronous motors has been investigated in numerous studies, but the issues of flying start at high speed are still a major problem. In our previous research, the issues on conventional position control are presented, and the reasons for these issues are distinguished as the initial response of the speed estimation. Based on this discussion, an initial speed estimation method is proposed as a solution. In this paper, the whole position sensorless control system with the initial speed estimation is presented, which enables the startup from overall speed, and the evaluation experiments are reported.
