Abstract |
An Adjustable Hybrid Switch (AHS) converter for electric vehicles (EV) is realized, configured, and operated to optimize the inverter performance over the whole driving profile. The AHS concept equips the EV with an 'Electronic Gear' functionality by online configuring the Cross-Switch (XS) hybrid power converter. The semiconductors in parallel are individually operated according to an optimization-based control algorithm to attain an increase of efficiency above 4\% with respect to a conventional Si IGBT converter. The Adjustable Hybrid Switch is most effective in applications like electric vehicles where the converter operates mostly in sub-load conditions. |
