Efficiency Enhancement of a Dual Active Bridge Converter by Utilizing Complete Zero Voltage Switching

Abstract |
Studies may associate Zero-Current-Switching (ZCS) in a Dual-Active-Bridge (DAB) converter with negligible losses and employ ZCS in the modulation. However, this paper shows ZCS incurs significant losses and proposes a modulation to realize complete Zero-Voltage-Switching (ZVS). Additionally, practical considerations to ensure complete ZVS are investigated. The results are validated experimentally and the efficiency is improved up to 5\\% at the low power operation of the DAB converter. |
