SOC governed algorithm for a EV Cascaded H-Bridge connected to a DC charger

Abstract |
Cascaded H- Bridge (CHB) converters have been considered valid candidates for replacing thetwo-level inverter in EV powertrain applications. This paper presents a State of Charge-governedalgorithm for charging Li-Ion battery modules within a Cascaded H-Bridge converter for EVpowertrain, connected to a DC charger. The novelty of this algorithm lies in the balanced andconcurrent charge of the battery modules installed in all submodules of the three-phases, with noextra middle stage converter needed. Simulation and experimental results are shown to prove thevalidity of the novel architecture and the experimental setup is described. |
