Abstract |
The reduction of physical inertia in power systems represents one of the major trends affecting publicgrids operations. Under this scenario, it becomes crucial to assess the positive contribution achievablethrough the application of advanced control strategies to converter-based units at the transmission anddistribution levels. In this perspective, this paper analyzes how the introduction of grid-forming controlfunctionalities in STATCOM devices could help toward the stabilization of the network transients andthe reduction of inter-area phenomena. |
