Bearing currents can severely reduce the lifetime of electrical machines. The parasitic bearing capacitancecausing these currents depends on speed, lubricant temperature, and bearing load. In radiallyloaded bearings, the capacitance of each bearing ball varies over its angular position, exhibiting highcapacitance in the load zone and lower capacitance outside of it. This work proposes a method formeasuring the bearing capacitance over the angular position and provides a model that incorporates thiseffect. |
