Abstract   This article studies the EMI noise modeling of a three-level T-type inverter (3LT2I) for adjustable speed drive (ASD) systems. A methodology to generate the common-mode (CM) voltages in the time-domain is proposed based on SiC MOSFETs switching behavior, such as the variable rise and fall times. The frequency spectrums of the time-domain voltages are used with the CM noise paths to predict the CM current of the 3LT2I. The CM noise model of the 3LT2I consists mainly of two CM noise sources. The effect of these noise sources on the CM current is investigated. The proposed EMI noise prediction method is validated by the comparison between the simulation and experimental results of the CM voltage and CM current spectrums.
