Abstract | In this paper, the achievable cooling limits of passively cooled integrated motor drives are investigated. For the concept of a drive-integrated end cap with cooling fins a thermal model is derived and used to calculate the cooling system performance index, resulting in a range of CSPI = 0.67..1.8 W/K/L which is primarily suitable for high-torque, low-speed motors. | |||||
