Abstract |
This article assesses the power electronic converters for HVDC tapping stations. Firstly, it comparesparallel and series tapping stations to show the potential benefits of the last ones. Then, an original series converter based on a Current Source Alternate Arm Converter (CSAAC) is compared to a commonVoltage Source Modular Multilevel Converter (VSMMC). It shows that the former requires little industrial effort whereas the latter, less mature, outperforms its predecessors in many criteria. |
