| Abstract |
This paper presents a small signal impedance model and stability analysis used in investigations ofrectifier system instabilities observed in several practical applications of high-power Medium Voltage(MV) Voltage Source Converters (VSCs) with Diode Front Ends (DFEs). These self-sustainedinstabilities, seen in vicinity of the 2nd harmonic frequency, have been extensively studied and linked tothe rectifier transformer core saturation and negative resistance effect produced by the saturation related the 2nd harmonic current injection. |
