Abstract   The industrial three-phase line is connected with single-phase load across six bidirectional power switching elements. For this reversible converter, the authors study control strategies by means of functional description in order to build a numerical simulation program with a Petri-nets structuration. Control modes are defined in respect of the load nature specially when undesirable voltage or current harmonic terms are to reduce. Owing to the recent developments of microcomputers, the working out of control system is easy. Several examples of loads (d.c. motor, inductive resistance) illustrate the flexibility of this converter structure which can be considered like an almost universal tool for power conversion.
