| Abstract |
The design of turn-off snubber circuit is depending on circuit conditions. For a proper choice of the capacity of the snubber capacitor Cs two aspects are to be taken into account. The dv/dt limit during turn-off given in the data sheet determines the minimal capacity allowed. The maximal allowed average turn-off power loss may determine a higher value of Cs. This research shows, that the characteristlc values Itqt and Ttq of tall current curve are strongly lnfluenced by the capacity of Cs. The results are described in detail. A final view on turn-off power loss shall help the designer to choose a suitable capacity for the snubber capacitor in his application. By means of an example the dependence of turn-off loss energy on the capacity of Cs is pointed out. |
