The in-series connection of power transistors makes it possible to envisage the direct use of these types of components on a medium-voltage network. The problems involved in in-series connection of power transistors are analyzed both from inverter and chopper branch points of view. A functional approach is used, making it possible to define a modular switch likely to facilltage in-series connection for all types of components (transistor, GTO, etc ... ). Various solutions are proposed and analyzed. An example involving a 200 kW, 4 kV-chopper is described. Thus, the use of GTOs for medium-voltage applications can be envisaged. |
