This paper deals with the special reaction of cascode switches in voltage inverters. The "self limiting lock-on conduction time" behavior is developed for a control mode without dead time. A simple drive circuit for a series-resonant converter using the self-limiting performance of cascode switches is given and introduces the "self piloting" possibility, for these converters, by the load. Finally, we present the results on a "self piloting" series-resonant converter, working with a time constant of half the resonance period of the load. These results enable us to design H.F. converters of power in excess of 10 KW and 100 to 300 KHz frequencies. |
