| Abstract |
In the field of medium and high powers, the GTO is being considered as an increasingly important device. This tendency shows up in particular in the growing market of available devices, as well as in the increasing number of publications and realisations concerning this subject. In this paper the authors show how the best GTO performances can be achieved by using it as dual-thyristor, according to soft commutation modes and with a very high operation safety. After having defined the converter operation mode due to the use of GTO in dual thyristor configuration the authors present a structure which is well adapted to the realisation of medium power sinusoidal supplies. |
