Abstract |
In this paper, a new high frequency DC converter topology using GTO thyristors is described. A zero current commutation of these devices realized by double resonance principle allows reduction of switching losses. In this case, high frequency operation can be possible with good efficiency. Futhermore, only a low frequency range is needed to regulate output voltage. In the presented converter 1,2 KV - 600 A GTO are used at a frequency witch can varied from 6,7 KHz to 12,5 KHz. Design considerations and experimental results of the prototype for the CERN'S LEP project are given. |
