Abstract   The reluctancemotor, which is fed by an inverter in a rotor orientated way, can be controlled comparably to a DC motor. Attributes of such a servo drive system are explained corresponding to features of the reluctancemotor and the transistor inverter. Signal processing for a large region of speed control including field weakening is represented as well as experimental results for two different types of reluctancemotors. For servo-applications torque pulsations as small as possible are necessary. A method for approximate calculation of these pulsations as function of the rotor position is shown for the reluctancemotor with segment-pole rotor.
