Abstract | In the present paper, the authors put forward the advantages related to cooling by immersion in FREON 113 specifically at the level of: - Suppression of environmental constraints, - Use of cooling fluids without special treatment, - High level insulation, - Significant thermal capacity, notably in pulse state, - Dimension compactness. These various advantages led to the achievement of the pulse power supplies for TORE SUPRA poloidal field coils (240 MW peak power) installed on the CEA Site in CADARACHE (FRANCE). |
