Abstract |
Cycloconverter fed squirrel cage induction motors can successfully replace conventional d.c. motors; sophisticated control algorithms such as vector-control guarantee a dynamic performance which is as good as that of d.c. drives. All control functions such as twin drive, digital speed and current control as well as the flux model, EMF-compensation and diagnostic functions are implemented on a powerful Programmable High Speed Control System (PHSC). The described variable speed drive system is successfully operating as a twin drive stand for a temper mill. Experimental results gained from rolling steel mill operation are presented. |
