Abstract |
This paper describes prototype compensators suppressing the load reactive power and harmonics flowing in a power system. The compensator exhibited excellent performance of compensation behind which is a suppression concept based on the instantaneous spatial vector theory and the use of SI thyristors of high switching characteristics as the switching devices for the converters. The results of functional testing on a 20 kVA prototype compensator consisting of six SI thyristors and the evaluation of its compensation performances are presented in the paper, together with a brief description of a second prototype 100 kVA compensator developed based on the data from the test of the 20 kVA version and simulation. |
