Abstract |
Digital control of high-dynamic servo systems for speeding and positioning AC-drives requires a high efficiency of the microcontroller system, caused by the complex control algorithms and the small time constants of the modern machines. Therefore the structure of microcomputer systems is of great importance. Conventional microcontroller systems are based on single- or multi-processor systems using a bus concept. A new generation of microcontrollers - Transputers - offers the possibillty of realizing a software-configurable network by point to point connections. Parallel processing is supported by high level languages. This paper analyses the flexibility of both structures and their application in robot control systems. Results of benchmark tests are given. |
