A MODULAR AND VERSATILE CONTROL METHOD FOR PHASE-STAGGERING MULTIPLE POWER CONVERTERS | ||||||

Abstract | Operating several power electronics modules in parallel can have distinct advantages compared to a system which consists of only one module for the same total power rating. Some of these advantages are: - higher effective inverter frequency - inherent redundancy - lower distortion of input and output waveforms. These advantages can only be realized in practice when a control system takes care of the correct phase-shifting over 360/n degrees of the pulse pattern of the individual modules. A control method is presented whose philosophy allows any number of power modules to be operated in this manner, even under transient conditions. |
