Abstract |
The paper describes a low frequency sinewave inverter with PWM control and a high frequency link comprised of switching power transistors, fast recovery rectifying diodes, ferrite core transformers and compact resonant filters tuned to the switching frequency. The inverter has minimum switching devices resulting in better reliability and efficiency, it has high power to weight ration, low total harmonic distortion and good output voltage regulation for both input voltage and load current variations. The single phase inverter described in this paper can be used to realise a three phase inverter by suitably connecting three single phase inverters with 120° phase difference between their respective output voltages. A detailed description of the inverter operation and the method of selecting power stage components is given along with experimental results. |
