Abstract |
This paper describes a simple two-speed controller which gives a speed ratio of 1:2. The controller drops the supply frequency to half and keeps the ratio v/f constant in a novel way through the employment of a new principle which may be suitably called half-cycle manipulation. Two methods are discussed to drop the frequency of the supply to half using this principle and their frequency spectra are compared. The controller is tested with different types of single-phase induction motors and successfully gives the speed ratio required. Performance curves of a two-speed single-phase drive are also presented. |
