Abstract   This paper investigates Differential Mode Conducted (DMC) current and the power factor produced by a Dual Active Bridge (DAB) converter operated under phase-shift control. Power factor and the first harmonic are modeled with respect to the static gain versus an output parametrized current dimensionless plane. It is shown that voltage and output current ranges have a significant impact on the magnitude of the reactive power and filter effort, which can therefore compromise the performance in operating frame. Especially, the DMC should be considered in the Dual Active Bridge (DAB) converter design optimization to avoid EMI filter oversizing or non-compliance on EMC standards.
