In power supply systems of large energy consumers, it is possible to use electric machine converters with asynchronized generator-engines. These devices provide uninterrupted power supply to consumers as well as guarantee such advantages as galvanic isolation, separate parameters stabilization, limitation of short-circuit currents, accumulation and conversion of kinetic energy with its subsequent conversion into electrical energy. Active frequency converters in the excitation systems of electrical machines allow the start-up of units and provide other modes of operation, including using the accumulated kinetic energy. The structure and operating modes of these converters are discussed. |
