Abstract |
Integration of various intermittent renewable energy sources and diesel generators for microgrid and off-grid applications demands DC/DC converters to be more agnostic to input voltage and load changes. Novel combination of sliding surface mode control and adaptive PID is presented to control the output voltage of a buck-boost converter. The converter and controller are modeled using MATLAB/SIMULINK.Adaptive controller resulted in up to 89\% drop in the RMS voltage error compared to typical single PID configuration. A zero steady state error was also achieved and the performance was consistent at different loads. |
