Loss analysis of a single phase fast transient VRM Converter

| Abstract |
This paper analyzes losses of the stepping inductor converter in the presence of load transients. Stepping inductor converter is a new VRM topology which employs a single phase only. Stepping inductor converter is very effective in dealing with fast transient and gives better steady state efficiency at the same time. Occurences of transient load current changes are measured in a personal computer. Data are used to evaluate the real world performance of the stepping inductor converter. |
