 Abstract   Various methods of time optimal rotation speed control of a thyristor-supplied direct-current motor drive have been analyzed. The design of a rotation speed control algorithm for a DC motor drive without inner armature current feedback providing suboptimal rotation speed step response has been discussed. An armature current limiting algorithm has also been developed. The control algorithms have been developed separately for the continuous and the discontinuous mode of operation of the thyristor converter. Simulation results have indicated that the algorithms described provide suboptimal rotation speed responses.
