Abstract |
This paper addresses key issues in the design of a high performance controller for distributed multi-motor servo systems, specifically using transputers and the Helios Operating System . The following aspects are considered: synchronisation, redundancy, communication protocols and real-time constraints. Central to this research is the design of a high performance communications network suitable for coordinating both local and geographically distributed multimotor control systems. Helios is chosen as it is a distributed operating system which facilitates high-level development, testing and control of user tasks. |
