Abstract |
An actuator with two degrees of freedom can perform simultaneous linear and angular motion on a tubular solid rotor. An experimental system was designed to characterize this actuator static and dynamic behaviour. Actuator torque and force characteristics have been optimized by encoating the rotor with a thin copper film. Despite possible complications due to the presence of a solid rotor, a working model was determined. From this model a control structure was designed, whose accurate and efficient performance has been demonstrated experimentally. |
