Load distortion currents can be suppressed by employing active filters which possess some superiorities compared to conventional passive filters. However, desired filtering eflects can only be achieved, when the limited capability of the active filter and its working conditions are taken into account. In the case of the voltage-source active filter using last switching semiconductor power devices, the filtering performance depends widely on the filtering target and the employed signal processing method respectively, on the design features of the filter such as power rating, switching frequency and control method, on the characteristics of the load to be compensated and on the characteristics of the power supply system. |
