Abstract |
The paper presente a very low current ripple PWM rectifier for supply of particle accelerator magnets. The modulation technique is based on the feed-forward optimum control theory [1,2], and is implemented by means of a high-performance micro-controller, which also generates the PWM control of the converter switches. The proposed solution consists in a single-stage step-down totally-controlled GTO converter, and uses the Intel 80C196KC micro-controller. The optimum control strategy ensures minimum low frequency output voltage ripple and maximum input power factor irrespective of the line voltage distortion. Design criteria and control implementation are described. Experimental results are given for a 15 kW prototype. |
