A novel full-bridge, zero-current-switched (ZCS), pulse-width-modulated (PWM) converter is proposed. The new circuit features the merits of the conventional PWM and ZCS quasi-resonant converter techniques while avoiding their respective limitations. The active switches in this converter operate with zero-current switching and the rectifier diodes with zero-voltage switching. Switching losses are significantly reduced at the expense of a limited increase in conduction loss. A detailed analysis of the proposed converter is presented and is verified on an 80 kHz, 200W experimental circuit using IGBTs. |
