Abstract |
Holec has developed an asynchronous traction drive based on GTO technology, allowing a range of drive solutions to be built with only two basically different active modules. Though originally designed for DC-line traction systems such as used in the Netherlands, the modules are equally suitable for configuring an AC-fed drive. This configuration has been ordered by British Railways Board for 37 Electrical Multiple Units Class 323. Key item in the system design is a strict limitation on interference currents. This is achieved by a combination of a high PWM frequency of the line-side converter (900 Hz per converter) and active and passive filtering components. |
