Abstract |
A high power GTO-inverter for locomotive drives is presented and described. The converter is equipped with 4500V/3000A GTOs in order to deliver a nominal power of 3,6 MV A. The inverter Iosses are calculated by means of a simulation program and component losses are determined for the layout of the cooling system of the inverter. The electrical circuit of the converter, its electrical behaviour and the design of the mechanical system including sensor technology and drive circuits are aim of the presentation. A locomotive of the German Railways (DB) is equipped with this new inverter. Test runs will happen during the second half year 1991. |
